Rotary International has released AI Guidelines for Members, providing guidance on the responsible use of artificial intelligence tools in Rotary communications, marketing, and club operations. As Public Image leaders, we encourage you to review these guidelines and share them with your clubs, especially those using AI tools to create social media content, newsletters, presentations, and promotional materials.
One of the most important sections for Public Image teams relates to AI-generated images and Rotary branding:

• Do not upload Rotary logos, branded content, photos, videos, articles, or other Rotary intellectual property into AI tools.

• This includes Rotary International logos, club logos, district logos, Brand Center assets, and Rotary publication content.

• Do not use AI tools to create or alter Rotary logos or other trademarked Rotary graphics.

• AI-generated images may be used for club and district communications, provided they follow Rotary brand guidelines.

• After an image has been created, clubs and districts may add their official logo during the design process using software such as Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, or other graphic design tools. The logo should never be uploaded into the AI generator itself.

The guidelines also remind us to:
• Never upload confidential Rotary information into AI tools.

• Never upload photos or videos of members, beneficiaries, participants, or minors without appropriate consent.

• Fact-check all AI-generated content before publishing.

• Be transparent when AI plays a significant role in creating content.

AI can be a powerful tool for storytelling, public image, and outreach when used responsibly. By following these guidelines, we can embrace innovation while protecting Rotary's brand, reputation, and the privacy of those we serve.

Please take time to review the complete Rotary AI Guidelines and consider sharing the key points with your club Public Image Chairs and communication teams.
