As my year as District Governor comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on one overwhelming feeling: gratitude.
Thank you. Thank you for your passion, your service, your generosity, and your commitment to Rotary. Whether you organized a service project, mentored a student, welcomed a new member, sold raffle tickets, attended a district event, or simply showed up week after week to make your community a little better, you made a difference.
This year gave me the privilege of meeting Rotarians from across District 6420—people who care deeply about their communities and are willing to roll up their sleeves when something needs to be done. I met club members whose creativity, dedication, and servant leadership inspired me at every stop along the way.
One of the highlights of the year was our Rotary Connect Tours. What started as an idea to gather by geographic areas turned into something special. We laughed together, shared ideas, built new friendships, and strengthened relationships between clubs. Connecting in a social environment allowed us to get to know one another beyond club meetings, and I believe those connections will continue to strengthen Rotary across our district for years to come.
Throughout the year, I challenged every club to think about growth—whether by welcoming one new member into Rotary or by investing in the next generation through our Level Up Leadership initiative. While the final numbers will tell part of the story, the bigger success is that clubs across our district are having conversations about the future. They are asking how we attract new members, develop young leaders, and ensure Rotary remains strong for generations to come.
Personally, this year reminded me that growth happens when we are willing to step outside our comfort zone. Had I never raised my hand and put my name in the ring for District Governor, I would have missed the opportunity to meet so many incredible people, learn from remarkable leaders, and experience Rotary from an entirely different perspective. It has been one of the most rewarding leadership experiences of my life.
Perhaps what gives me the greatest optimism is seeing the next generation of leaders stepping forward. Through Level Up Leadership, Youth Exchange, Interact, Rotaract, and the many ways Rotarians mentor and encourage others, we are investing in people who will carry Rotary forward long after our terms of service end. Leadership is not about a title—it is about creating opportunities for others to grow.
As we prepare to welcome a new Rotary year, I encourage you to consider taking that same leap. Join a district committee. Volunteer for a project. Say yes to a leadership opportunity that feels just a little bigger than you're ready for.
District leadership is one of Rotary's best-kept secrets. It provides a safe environment to develop leadership skills, build confidence, expand your network, and make an impact beyond your own club. Most importantly, you'll discover that you don't have to have all the answers—you simply need a willingness to serve and learn. This is your opportunity.
While my year as District Governor is ending, my Rotary journey continues. I look forward to focusing on New Club Development and helping launch the Rotary Means Business Fellowship in District 6420. Both initiatives are exciting opportunities to expand Rotary's reach, create new connections, and bring even more value to our members.
The future of Rotary doesn't belong to someone else. It belongs to each of us.
Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your District Governor. I am incredibly proud of District 6420 and optimistic about what lies ahead. We are passionate, generous, service-minded people, and I am grateful to be part of this Rotary family.
