As we find ourselves immersed in the spirit of this season, I extend warm greetings to each of you. This time of year, holds a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the power of compassion and the joy that comes from giving. In this spirit, I wish to draw your attention to our ongoing Rotary District 6420 Service Project, "Filling our Pantries with Hope."

Every year, Rotary members around the world mobilize for World Polio Day. We raise awareness of polio and gather support for our global effort to make sure that every child is protected from it. By staying tenacious, hopeful, and committed, we will make history by making polio the second human disease ever to be eradicated.
Goal: donate 28,000 lbs of food to food pantries district-wide. How? Each club member donates 20 lbs of food to local pantries.Ideas: ASK pantry manager about their need, PARTNER with local grocery stores, and INVITE local food pantry rep to speak. Deadline: June 1, 2024

It takes a village, and maybe a few pilots to make this work but it’s certainly worth the effort! August 20th Belvidere Rotarians hosted our “Bomber Bingo”.
Putnam County Rotary’s Oktoberfest event from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 19 at Lost Duck Tavern in Granville, welcomes all to sample German beer and authentic Oktoberfest food specialties. Beginning at 6:30 pm, Sully will guide diners through six 4-ounce pours of German lagers and ales followed by a shot of Jagermeister, and a six-course sampling of German foods including home-made pretzels, cucumber salad, spaetzel, pork schnitzel, sauerbraten, apple struedel and ginger snaps. Cost is $18 per person, or $12 for a non-alcoholic option served with German root beer.
The Rotary clubs of eastern Iowa and western Illinois are hosting a joint World Polio Day banquet on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island, Ill. The evening will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary of DeKalb/Sycamore hosted the 7th annual "Taste of DeKalb" event in downtown DeKalb on Sunday, September 24. The purpose of the event is to raise funds to support an annual community grant that the club sponsors.
