
George Partlo, PDG, District 6420

1999-2000
District 6420 Past District Governor George Partlo is a native of Houghton, Michigan and later
moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where he finished high school and later received a
B.S. in Psychology from South Dakota State University. He entered the U.S. Navy
in
1961 where he received flight training. After five years he joined American Airlines where
he was a Captain of MD11 aircraft until his retirement in 1998.
PDG George grew up in a Rotary family and first joined a Rotary Club in
1973 in Manchester, Tennessee. He held several offices there before moving to Illinois,
where he first joined the Marengo-Union Rotary Club, later becoming President of the
Club in 1988. He then became a member of the Harvard Rotary Club, which he served as
President in 1994-1995. He received that Clubs Rotarian of the Year
award in 1995. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow.
Aside from his many Rotary activities, George as been active in the
American Legion, VFW, McHenry County Historical Society, and St. Johns Lutheran
Church in Union, Illinois.
Governor Georges wife, Jerrilynne, is also a Harvard Rotarian. They have two
grown daughters, Karin and Kristin.
The Governors challenge to District 6420 Rotarians
during his year was for each of us to bring one
new member into Rotary; to participate in Club projects; to increase our support of the
Rotary Foundation; and if at all possible, to attend District and International events.
