Helen Kilgore

Area XI includes the Rotary Clubs:

Freeport, Freeport Sunrise, Galena, Mount Carroll and Savanna

Helen works part time for Jo Carroll Energy in Elizabeth where she had worked for 23 years before retiring.  Helen has lived in Elizabeth most of her life.  She is involved with many organizations in the community and the county.  She was President of the Galena Rotary Club 2010-11 and is a Paul Harris Fellow. She has been involved with the Galena Rotary Auction, Day in the Country, Scholarship selection and the Galena Rotary Foundation. Helen has 3 children, Denise in Galena, Herb in Monroe WI, Julie in Mukilteo WA, 7 grandchildren and will have a total of 6 great grandchildren in June.  She enjoys golf, traveling to watch the grandchildren in the sports they are involved in.

     She has been president of the Lions Club, Elizabeth Historical Society and the Jo Daviess County Health Department Board. Helen is on the Board of the Apple River Fort Foundation that raised the money and rebuilt the Apple River Fort and Interpretive Center in Elizabeth. She is presently Sec/Treasurer of the Foundation and has served as a Trustee and was Village President in Elizabeth. She is also on the Jo Daviess County Juvenile Justice Council. 

      Helen is also an elder and treasurer for Schapville Zion Presbyterian Church in rural Elizabeth. She was one of the original EMT’s with the Elizabeth ambulance for 30 years and still helps them.
