Area VII Assistant Governor Sue Schmitt

Area VII includes the Rotary Clubs:

Streator, Toluca and Wenona

   Sue is a veterinarian practicing in her hometown of Streator.  She owns and operates Countryside Animal Clinic, a three doctor companion animal practice.  After graduating from Illinois Valley Community College and receiving a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a master’s degree in reproductive physiology both from Southern Illinois University, she received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois in 1982.  She practiced a year in Milwaukee and 2 years in University Park before returning home and establishing her own business.

    Since returning to Streator Sue has been involved in several community organizations.  She is past president and current secretary/treasurer of the Rotary Club of Streator, past president and current treasurer of the Zonta Club of Streator, past president, past campaign chair and current secretary of the Streator Area United Way, past president and current board member of the Streator Chamber of Commerce, past president and current board member of the Streator Family YMCA, past president and current board member of the YMCA board of Trustees and current Foundation board member at Illinois Valley Community College.  She has also served on the board and as president of the Streator Country Club and has been a member of an investment club for 12 years.

     Sue was honored to receive the Maxine Wargo Volunteer of the Year Award from the Streator Chamber in 2003 and the Tom Wilson Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Streator Area United Way in 2007.

  Outside of these activities Sue enjoys golf, flower gardening, water gardening and, believe it or not, mowing grass.
