Area VI Assistant Governor Don Ahrendsen

Area VI includes the Rotary Clubs:

LaSalle, Marseilles, Peru, Ottawa Noon, Ottawa Sunrise,

and Illinois Valley Sunrise

  Don joined the Ottawa Noon Rotary club in 1976, and has been President, Secretary, Treasurer, Bulletin editor, and various committee heads. On the district level has been Governor’s Aide for 7 Governors from 1981-1988. He has also served on the District Polio-plus and the District Extension committees. He was also the Governor’s Representative for the formation of the Ottawa Sunrise Rotary in 1989.

     Don served three years with the Army 3rd Infantry, 2 years in Germany. He attended Iowa State University and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1966, practiced in Ottawa full time till selling the Fox Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2004, and is now part time.

     Don is a Trustee of the Faith Lutheran Church of Ottawa, and is also involved with Animal Disaster Response. He is a member of IVERT (Illinois Veterinary Emergency Response Team) and LaSCART (LaSalle County Animal Response Team.)

     His hobbies involve many outdoor activities, the primary one trying to outsmart Alaskan salmon and trout.

     Don is a Paul Harris Fellow +1 and his wife, Bonnie is also a Paul Harris Fellow. They are the parents of 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
