Area V Assistant Governor Roger Anderson
Area V includes the Rotary Clubs:
Mendota, Sandwich and Plano

This will be Roger’s first year as Assistant Governor. He joined the Mendota Rotary club in 1970.
He has served as President and Secretary several times. Presently he is vice-chairman for the District
Shelter Box Committee and President and President Elect for the Mendota Rotary club. He was
instrumental in starting the Mendota High School Interact Club in 1990 and presently serves as club sponsor
from the Mendota Rotary Club. He is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Roger graduated from Augustana College in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry.
He served two years in the US Army as a medical lab technician. He taught high school science at
LeRoy High School from 1963-1969. He received a Masters of Science in Education majoring in Guidance
and Counseling from Illinois State University in 1969. He became head of the Guidance and Counseling
department at Mendota High School in 1969 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1994.
He has been active in education activities to the present.
Roger volunteers in Mendota and serves on the boards of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Mendota Christian Food Pantry. He is an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
He enjoys golfing, traveling, and cultural activities. He and his wife Barbara have two grown children and three grandchildren.
