Area IX Assistant Governor John Finkes

Area IX includes the Rotary Clubs:

East Moline, Milan, Moline, Quad Cities and Rock Island

    John has been a member of the Quad Cities Rotary Club since 2000. He has served as news reader, John Deere Classic Parking Committee Chair, board member and Club President in 2004-2005. He is active on the membership committee and is currently the program chairman and a literacy reader at Horace Mann School in Rock Island.

         The highlights of his presidential year was attending the Chicago Convention and meeting Rotarians from everywhere, several of which have accepted speaking invitations at club meetings. The dynamics created by the convention speakers and Rotary International officers when speaking from the convention.

         John and Vickie, his wife of 43 years, have two daughters. Sandra Straetker lives in St. Louis with husband John and their children Matthew and Jillian. Sandra served as an Ambassadorial Scholar in England in 1989-1990. One of her highlights for that year was being present when the Berlin Wall came down. Several of the Leichester, England Rotary Club members made the trip to Moline for the wedding of Sandra and John. Daughter Jeanne Richards lives in Hoffman Estates with her husband Gary and sons Bobby and Danny. Jeanne is a reading specialist and keeps dad interested in literacy.

        John retired in 2006 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing of the George Evans Corp. in Moline. He remains active as a board member of Skills, Inc. and keeps up with community business selling advertising for Gold Book and keeps up with community business selling advertising for Gold Book Magazine ( a SNG Publication ) in the Quad Cities region.

        John spends time trying to complete the projects around the house that he has been putting off for years and when the weather is right, sailing his catamaran out of the Lake Davenport Sailing Club.
