2012-13 District Governor
Bob Hammon

Bob has been a member of the Sycamore Rotary Club since 1984. He served as President from 1992-93, and was an Assistant Governor for Area III from 2005-09. He was the District Conference Chair in 2002-03 and served on the District Literacy Committee from 1995-97. He has been active in the local club activities: ie: the Pancake Breakfast, Chair; High School Scholarship committee; member retention; short and long term student exchange host; meals on wheels; salvation army bell ringing; theatre evening out; holiday party committee; program chair; etc. Bob was Rotarian-of-the-year 2002-03. He is a Paul Harris Fellow, as well as his wife, and has 26 years of perfect attendance.
Bob is a graduate of Western Illinois University (BA, MA, EdSp) and the University of Iowa (PhD). He has been a teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. He retired from the Sycamore Community School District after 21 years of service.
Since retirement Bob has been a business/education consultant and an interim Superintendent. He is also an adjunct professor for Olivet Nazarene University.
Over the years he has held many memberships and leadership positions in business and professional organizations. Bob has also been very active in the Sycamore community, ie: President of the Ben Gordon Mental Health Foundation; Greater Sycamore Chamber of Commerce; Sycamore Ambassadors and the Family Service Agency. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Clinton Consistory and KAABA Shrine. Bob has received numerous recognitions for his professional and community service; ie: Distinguished Educator Award; Charles F. Kettering Foundation; DeKalb County Excellence in Education; Illinois State Board Those Who Excel Award of Merit; Clifford Dannielson Outstanding Citizen Award; Arnold W. Salisbury Educational Leadership Award from Western Illinois University; and the William VanTill Service Award.
Bob's wife Diane is a Charter Member and Past President of the Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club. She also served on the District RYLA committee 1994-95.
They are the parents of 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Bob's hobbies include boating at Geneva Lake, riding his GoldWing Motorcycle, reading, cooking and traveling.
